Parent Involvement

Our center embraces an open-door policy, welcoming parents at any time. We encourage parents to visit ACLC to observe their child's progress. Additionally, we invite parents to volunteer, assisting with daily routines, reading books to the children, and joining field trips.

  1. All visitors must check in at the front desk and wear a visitor's badge.

  2. Classroom observations should be pre-arranged with the teacher.

  3. Parents may not enter classrooms during instructional time without prior approval.

Separation

Understanding and managing feelings of separation is a lifelong journey. Separation can evoke sadness and pain, often leading to anxiety and fear. Any change in circumstances can trigger these feelings.

  • Discuss changes as they happen and acknowledge feelings of sadness, anger, or fear.

  • Encourage your child to express their emotions verbally.

  • Reassure your child that you will return.

When saying goodbye, maintain confidence and provide comfort by saying, "Everything will be alight."

Special Occasions

Parents can host birthday parties for their child at the center during afternoon snack time (2:00 PM) and provide cake and refreshments. ACLC also organizes special occasion celebrations, sometimes asking for parent contributions. If you prefer your child not to participate in these events, please inform the director or your child's teacher for alternative arrangements.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The center will host parent-teacher conferences twice a year. These meetings will provide parents with the chance to meet with the teacher, allowing them to learn about their child's progress and activities. Additionally, when staff is engaged in a specific project with a child, memo will be sent home to encourage parents to support their child's involvement in the project.

Additional conferences can be scheduled if needed.

Our Safety Measures

In case of an emergency where we would have to evacuate the property, ACLC will transport your child to the Shannon Town Hall located at 225 Braod Street as it's primary relocation. If fo some reason we are unable to transport your child to that location, we will go to our secondary relocation at Shannon Primary School located at 6408 Noah Curtis Street. We will transport your child by van, and will notify you.
